Hello Friends, today is a pretty simple topic, being alive and being happy.
What a thought eh? But why is this such a big deal to me? Well I think it mostly comes from the fact that a lot of my ideas tend to have a dark undertone of sorts, And I think sometimes, especially with my own history, it's important to look at life and reflect on everything you have going for you. I get caught up at times with everything that I don't have, and yeah, I get into a slump about things. But the reality is, I've got a lot going on these days and a lot to look forward to as well. School has been a great learning experience for me, work has been good as well although I am thinking of looking for new opportunities. I have the ability to go as far as I want to go with my creativity and my craft, and I plan to go as far as possible and beyond. I don't want to become ruled by my fears, doubts and insecurities.
I've got a lot ahead of me these next weeks as I aim to complete 22 pages of my very own first independent comic book, Brewgatory! It's exciting and fun project, but it's a lot of work! For anyone who has ever tackled this, I am in awe of your power! And for those who are thinking about doing one, by all means go for it, just know that it is a dedication, you can't half ass this one. I am missing out on a lot of social gatherings and outings, but I know this is the only thing that makes any sense to me, there's nothing more important for me. And when you find your passion, you have to go all in.
I am still waiting to hear back from a certain comic book convention that takes place at the end of the summer, but here is hoping I can get a spot on the floor. This would be the first time on my own at a show, but with the experiences I've had with my friends and brothers in the comic book art scene I aim to take everything I've learned and make my mark in this business. I am not the prettiest, not the flashiest, but God damn it I plan to be a part of this world! Come hell or high water, I am going to be a comic book artist!
So to you mt dear friend, if you are living with depression or anxiety or any mental health problems, take it from me. You are not your mental health, it is a part of you but it is not what defines you. And even though some days it is harder than others, fight, fight with everything you've got and create something incredible. I know you can do it.
Until then, keep chasing the Storm.

Giveaway Ideas
Hey guys, Stormy here and I wanted to give y'all a heads up here on my giving away project that I was working on. Okay, so here is the deal. I've got a lot of things on the table to give away, a lot of comic books and DVD's and even a few CD's...if you kids want them. And knowing that many people will want them, I need to figure out how to spread the joy. Now you may or may not know, I've had a few tables at a few different comic book conventions and you may have noticed that I haven't been on the scene for sometime now. Well I am telling you this here and I am telling you this now, the ChileanStorm is coming back!
But what about that free stuff? Well here is the thing, you want some free stuff then you've got to come by my table and say hi, and I will have a box of free things there for everyone. I might have a little bin for loonies if you want to grab more stuff. I want to try to have everyone at least get one item, but if you see stuff you really really want, by all means let me know and you can take it home.
So there you have it, now you know to come check out my little art table for some free stuff and who knows maybe some new art prints or a cool new fresh comic from yours truly. I will let you know here where and when my next shows will be, so be sure to check out the page often and stay update with me over on my Twitter, @ChileanStorm and also on Instagram and Tumblr. Until then, keep chasing the Storm!

A New York Storm of Mind... (Part 2)
Back and back again! So where was I last time...?
Right, the Special Edition Comic Con in New York City! Man, it was a really awesome crowd, you guys that came out this weekend really love your comics and love your artwork, and we really appreciate all the love we got for our works. A lot of creative commissions were created as well, including the awesome sketch shoe idea, there was also original characters drawn and even a few anime characters drawn up as well. And the amount of great travel at the show as well was an incredible experience to see as well, newcomers and professionals alike shared the floor room and it was just an incredible experience to take a part in. But as the show was coming to an end on Saturday, I was looking forward to going out and seeing more of the city, and trying out some New York unique food.
We decided to hit up Shake Shack, according to the masses this is the best burger joint in the town. According to some our New York guides, it wasn't that good but since we were here anyways, might as well try it out. We didn't wait too long though, about ten minutes to get through the crowd and order up our burgers. I decided to go all out and get the Smoke Shack burger, which was a spicy based kind of burger. I am not the best with spices, most of the time I will avoid it if I can. But that being said, this was a damn good burger. The best burger I have ever had? Not really. But I will say it is worth a try at least once if you are in town and looking to try out some unique burgers. We decided to hit up some pubs afterwards and watch some World Cup futbol and have a few drinks. I am aware of a lot of the controversy surrounding this current World Cup, but I got to say, man this is really the best time to watch some good futbol games. With plenty of food and drinks in our bellies, we set off back to the boat to get ready for our last day in the big city.
I am going to blame this on the drinks, but I had a feeling that the boat was a bit more rockier then usually on Sunday morning. Never the less, we packed up and made our way to the show. This day was more quite though, and I guess it makes sense if you take into account that it was Father's Day and all. But still, we got a lot of people coming in and getting some artwork and I decided to take the time and see some of the sights and maybe get a few more things to bring back home. I found a lot of cheap comics, $2 for variant copies and blank covers, which include the Skottie Young variant for Angela's first appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy. I also went to Midtown Comics and got the J.Scott Campbell exclusive variant for Amazing Spider-Man: Learning to Crawl as well, it's really cool to get my hands on these especially. I went to look for some blind boxes as well, gathering a lot of these for mine and Toby's YouTube show, What Chu Got There. I found some How to Train Your Dragon 2 vinyl figures, and I even grabbed a horror icon blind box for my sister as well. I went around and got rid of all my $1 American bills, I don't know how you guys to it down there, but I managed to find some more copies of Batman: The Dark Knight, the issues with the Scarecrow. I went over my general disappointment with that run, particularly in the end, but hey, it looks amazing for sure. So after an awesome time at the show, we decided to hit the town, one last time and get some last minute purchases, which includes for me some Vinylmation figures and a Flounder plushie. I am one step closer to being Ariel people. One day.
But as you know, we had to get back on the road and back home to Canada. Needless to say, this trip was an incredible experience. To all my friends in the States, you guys have a lovely place and an incredible city, a lot to be proud of for sure. And I know me and all my art brothers are ready to come back and see more of the States. I really hope I can come back for the October show, I hear it's pretty legendary! But there you have it guys, my first time to New York City, a trip I will never forget. But it's back to work for me here in Toronto, a lot of work and projects to do, so I can't stop! Nor should you, keep at it and never stop working for what you want! Keep chasing the storm!

A New York Storm of Mind... (Part 1)
Back and back again!
Holy cow guys, what an awesome weekend I just had. Granted my sleep and eating habits are something that needs more fixing especially after being on the road that long, and sleeping on a boat as well. But it was worth it, and I honestly can't wait to do it again! As always though, I got to give a big thank you to the great crowds that came out this weekend to Special Edition Comic Con, it would be nothing with out you guys. To my travel mates and brothers, Kevin, Vince and Joe. Or as we want to be known as, "The Beauty School Drop-outs". And to our fellow artist next to us in the Artist Alley, wicked getting to know even more and more talent in this big world. But on to the weekend and the many moments it had in store...
So it was two nights and three days, but it felt like a week there if not longer. Granted leaving on the Thursday evening and getting to New Jersey in the morning, my senses were all whacked. We did have some wicked breakfast omelette though, really good stuff and we did a walk of the marina as well to kill off sometime before we could move into our boat. When noon came we were able to get settled into our little boat house for the weekend, pretty sweet boat with internet, TV, fridge, two rooms as well. The bathroom was really small though, so we had to use the marina bathroom during our stay, but other than that it was an awesome time on our beauty boat. I got to relax and watch some Machete Kills, the drivers needed to get a few hours of sleep before we could go out and see the city. After a quick nap, we went off to the big apple to see some of the many sights in town, and also to see a certain World Cup game...cough Chile cough. And I guess with some luck we got washed by a massive rain storm (oh hey), so we had to seek shelter and it was almost game time anyway. I will probably write up a little something on La Roja a bit later, I don't want to take up time on that here, but if you must know...we won! So plenty to celebrate after the rain cleared, I even got to do a victory celebration with other Chileans in Time Square. But we got to see all the crazy big stores and enjoyed plenty of food that night, it was hard but we had the show the next morning, so we had to get back to the boat.
Up bright and early and rocking quite a bit, but hey that's a boat for you. We made our way across back to NYC and to the convention centre. After setting up shop and getting breakfast, I was ready to make some sales for my mentors and my brothers. It was an awesome and early crowd at the show on Saturday, some really cool cosplayers as well. I wanted to do some convention exploring but it got really busy with a lot of commission request early coming in and me doing all the print sales. I really hope a lot of you got to enjoy all the original artworks you got, I saw some really killer ones being done, from original characters to Daredevil and Deadpools. We even got the chance to help out in drawing on some blank shoes, a wicked idea for any kind of comicbook show. And hey, even I sold a few copies of the Adventure Time and Pokemon prints, so a big thank you New York, I hope to bring more Storm art next time!
And with that said I am going to make this a two part blog, helps cut the reading and what not, see you guys in part two! Keep chasing the storm!

Niagara Falls Comic Con came and went by in a flash, a big thank you to everyone who came by the table and picked up some art or some prints, this weekend would be nothing without you guys. And to my Spent Pencils team as well, you guys made a good weekend incredible. Plenty of sketching, selling and drawing all weekend long, but luckily it wasn't all work, there was plenty of play as well. From late night gaming with Mario Kart Double Dash to actually going to see the Falls this year, we totally missed that last time, I can't complain. And to top it all off, we got an awesome bbq from fellow SP artist and family, Oliver. A big thank you to you man and your family for having all of us there.
Want to give some shout outs to the people who came by and got a commission or one of my sketch covers (it's one of a kind and it's all yours now). I got to say it's a honour to meet you guys and to have that kind of love given back for me and my art, so a big thank you. To new followers and old followers alike, anything you need from me, you just ask away. Anything you want to see me draw, let me know. I wouldn't be here without you guys, so let the Storm know what he can create.
And what would a show be without a few pictures. A few amazing cosplayers and memories with friends as well...

And Here We Go...
The weekend comes and the weekend goes. Welcome everyone, back from the first big show of the season at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and feeling great and ready for a new year of excitement and adventure and all that good stuff in between. First and foremost a big thank you to everyone who came to the Artist Alley and stopped by at the Spent Pencils table, I appreciate every moment and everyone who stopped by and showed their support, it means the world to me. And a big thank you to all the artist as well who spent the weekend working away as well, a lot and I mean a lot of amazing and creative talents on display this weekend. From new art groups like Breaking Lead, Legion of Beards and From a Hat, this is the power of the GTA art community, glad to have you guys at the shows! And of course a thank you to all my crew and to my friends in the Artist Alley, I can't wait to keep evolving and growing with all of you.
I sold a lot of different prints this weekend and a few sketch covers, so I should let you guys know I sold both the Thunderbolts and the X-Men sketch covers. But I will be doing an X-Men/Adventure Time cross up prints, have those ready for the next shows as well. That being said, let me know what kind of prints you would like to see from me and I can have that done for you. Also got some more blank covers, so give me ideas on those as well. Aside from that I was giving out a few free sketches and some postcards as well, which I will be making more in the near future. And I was lucky enough to get a lot of cool swag this weekend as well, from Apocalypse 4 tee and print, original books and some prints as well. I will be reading a lot of these in the near future and I will let you know what I think, but I highly recommend that you all get Black Hole Hunters Club, Teuton, Omega Zone and Two Mistakes Two Many. Look these books up, these are all original books and you need to give these guys plenty of love and support.
So I've got to get going now, plenty to clean up and I've got to work later on tonight. But again, thank you all for all the support and keep it coming, follow me on Twitter and Instagram under @ChileanStorm and be sure to follow this blog for all the updates and news and reviews that I can give you. Until then, keep chasing the storm.

The Storm is Coming...
It's almost here, the first weekend con of the year for me and my team in Spent Pencils. The time is this weekend and the place is the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for the Toronto Comic Con! To say I am not excited would be an understatement, I am really happy to get back to the tables and the shows, this is what I love to do. To be able to draw beside some of the greatest people in my life, to see fellow artist friends in the community, get to meet new fans and reconnect with the first ones, all of it, I can't wait. It's time for me to take what I've learned in the last months since Ottawa and put it to good use, to take my game to the next level. So with that said, if you are going this weekend, come down to Artist Alley and come see all of us in Spent Pencils! We got a big long table, so you can't miss it, we are going to be at A31.
As for me, well I will have plenty of my crazy cartoons and characters available to you. I've got a big selection of original sketch covers with plenty of Adventure Time mash ups and even original pieces as well on blank copies of Swamp Thing and Batman. And I will have more copies of my prints available as well, in case you missed the chance last year to pick some up. Plenty more Loki Lemongrab and Pokemon as well. Also I will be doing quick sketches for free and taking on commissions as well if you are looking for something unique and just for you. As well as with the purchase of any sketch cover (which range from 20-60) I will throw in a free ChileanStorm print of your choice, for this weekend! So deals and steals for you, come on by and get yourself a piece of the storm.
As you can see by the nice bright yellow label, that will be Spent Pencils section! We have a lot of talent at this table this weekend and even guys who will have there own tables as well in the Artist Alley section, so be sure to check them out as well. I am going to try and post on my recommendations on who and what to see at the con this weekend, but if I don't get to post it in time, go see every artist who loves what they do and give them the praise that they all deserve.

Thank you again guys for reading this, please tweet this or link it or any kind of way of getting the word out to everyone going to show this weekend. Looking forward to this and I am ready to show you what I am all about. Also guys, new content on YouTube coming out on the Maddsketch channel and on Toby's channel as well, so check it out. I will see you this weekend, keep chasing the storm.

Tripping Montreal
What a weekend, I don't know where exactly to start this blog off. I guess I personally would
like to thank everyone who came to the Spent Pencils table at the Artist
Alley at the Montreal Comic Con 2013, to everyone who came to get a print, a drawing or a commission,
thank you very much for all the support you give us, we really
appreciate it. Another personal thank you to everyone who came to my
side of the table, you guys really loved the Avengers Time and Loki
Lemongrab prints. I got a lot more of these kind of ideas coming in the
near future, so stay tuned and see what will be coming next. And also by
all means, feel free to drop a suggestion here or on Twitter, I want to
hear more from all of you. I got a chance to meet a lot of new people
this weekend, I want to give a special thanks to Vanessa, I was honored
to draw your Drogo commission and I am totally stoked you got it
signed by Jason Momoa. Truly honored, thank you so much. And
I would also like to thank and give mad props to a lot of the amazing
cosplayers out this weekend in Montreal, tons and tons of amazing
looking costumes to be seen this weekend. But I have to give major props
and high fives to these Cosplay pairs; the first one being the Science
Bros, I have a huge crush for this pairing, and you guys really
represented for Tony and Bruce. And also mad props to the Ariel and
Prince Eric cosplayers, you brought The Little Mermaid to life and that
means a lot to me, as that is my absolute favourite Disney movie of all
time. And a big thanks to everyone who took part in the Alvaro and Paul
Con Pictures, be sure to check back on the SP Facebook page for the
updated pictures from Montreal.
We also got a chance to go out on Friday and Saturday night to take in the city, culture and food from Montreal. And I must say, it's quite a beautiful city, plenty of unique looking buildings with an night life atmosphere that fuels the city. On Friday night we also got to do a little dinner birthday celebration for Tea, plenty of food and an awesome cake dessert. Glad we could all celebrate with you lil bro. It was also great to finally try the world famous Schwartz sandwiches, and my God, you really do need to try these sandwiches! An understatement if I said this was the best sandwich I've ever had, this is the best sandwich in the world. Prove me wrong, but as it stands Schwartz is number one. A must go to stop for anyone visiting Montreal. And on Saturday night, me and Tea went to explore the night life and get lost in the city. It's a bit confusing at first, but it is definitely a site to see, from the lakeside to the old town, Montreal looks fantastic. But be very careful when crossing the streets, the drivers are pretty harsh to say the least. But all things considered, I was very impressed by Montreal.
I also want to take this time a give a few shout outs to all my friends in the Artist Alley community, everyone keeps pumping out incredible work every time a new show rolls around and you definitely inspire me to keep working and working the days away. So a shout out to the talented Mike Rooth, Lamin Martin, Christopher Yao, Next Genesis Comics and everyone in the Artist Alley. A big thanks to Nicole Chartrand for coming by the SP table and saying hi to Tea, it was really awesome of you to stop by and I was glad to share with you a Lemongrab Loki print. Thanks a lot and be sure to check out her web comic here, Fey Winds. Also a big thanks to the Two Best Friends Play guys, I love the shows on YouTube and it was super cool to get a chance to talk with you guys at the show, love the shows and if you haven't seen them, be sure to subscribe to the funniest video game channel on YouTube. And last but not least, a big thank you to the greatest family in the world, Spent Pencils! To Hugh, Marvin, Paul, Gerard, Arnold, Daniel, Oliver, Kevin, Maddsketch, Tea and Vince. There's no one I would rather spend my time with, and it's always on honored to work with the family. Thank you all.
I had an amazing time this weekend, and honestly I can't wait to come back. I am looking forward to the return, thanks again Montreal!
Keep chasing the storm.

The Storm at the Expo...
A whole year has passed. It's crazy but when I wanted to start plugging this blog more and more, it was this time last year, after paying for my Fan Expo table and trying to imagine, me at the biggest show of the year here in Toronto, Canada, simply trying to make a name for myself. I couldn't even imagine it at all, I was scared and nervous, but I was also too hyped and giddy to let that show. And honestly, it's crazy to think back and realize that it just came and went, and I honestly couldn't be happier. But really I think back as well and I can't wait for next year as well, I can't wait for the next shows and all the different events that are coming up in the near future. So how exactly did my weekend go? With four days and three nights to cover, I will do my best to keep this as short as possible, but I can't make any promises, so grab a coffee...this may take awhile.
Day 1:
Set up day, man I was so happy to be there. Artist Alley, you know the guy who was jumping up and down, doing the Daniel Bryan "Yes Yes Yes" chant...yeah, that was me. I was so happy though, I couldn't believe it, me at Fan Expo. And seeing all my fellow Spent Pencils members, not to mention the new additions to the crew, the talented comic book artists and writer friends as well, not to mention everyone who was setting up, it was hard not to be excited. When the show started I decided to do a free warm up sketch, got to get working as soon as possible. It's a good way to get to meet new people as well, and I really do want to interact with as many people at these shows as possible. And before the night was up, I got my first commission of the show as well.
After the show we decided to go out for dinner, which you know we did every single night, crazy but true. Afterwards a few us shared a few rounds of rum and drinks, which apparently I can't hold too well. Thanks Tea and Carly for letting me crash in the room.
Day 2:
Like any good day, I started this one by crashing to the ground. That will wake you up. Anyways, I had quite a few errands to run all over town, so I didn't get to the show until later in the afternoon. However, I did get to go and pick up the prints that I had ordered from Guerrilla Printing, and a big thanks to those guys on the amazing work as well. So as soon as I got to the show I set up all my prints in the my book and had them ready for everyone to take a look. I did pretty well during the day as well, sold a few of the Pokemon prints and got more commission homework to take home and work on.
But I didn't go home, after the show we went to get some dinner and afterwards it was on towards the Revival club for the Rue Morgue after show party with The Birthday Massacre! Man that show was awesome, I started watching the show at the back enjoying a few drinks, by the end of the night I was right at the very front. An amazing show, love the energy and the feedback with the crowd. I would love to go see them again and you should too, check out there work at this link, here: The Birthday Massacre.
Day 3:
Not much sleep was had, I was up and early to get ready for the biggest day of the weekend. I had to add some finishing touches to one of my commissions, an Adventure Time sketch cover with Marceline beating the crap out of Lemongrab. I loved how it turned out and it was a blast to work on as well, check it out as well and see what you think. After finishing one it's onto the next project, all the while selling a lot of my Pokemon prints and helping out to sell a lot of cap'n Sunico's prints, and any chance I get to help out anyone in my Spent family, I will do so! A lot of friends, old and new came by the table as well and it was great to feel all the love from everyone who has been with me along the way, thank you so much guys! And also a few of the band members from The Birthday Massacre came by our table, which was amazing! I had to hook them up with a few prints, totally blown away on how totally cool they were! Seriously, check these guys out!
The night we went out to Denny's for our traditional Spent Pencil eating joint, with a few of the new members as well! I was starving, I had three orders of food including a couple of pancakes, a burger and a wrap. Let me tell you, no sleep is better then deep sleep. Needless to say I passed out as soon as I got to cap'n Go's place, still ready for one more day.
Day 4:
At last, the final day of the show, really bitter sweet kind of feeling for sure. I mean it's great to get back to a normal sleep pattern, but I had a blast all four of these days and could keep going on and on. But all things must come to an end at some point. I had all my commissions finished and picked up on this day and surprisingly as well I was able to sell a few of my blank covers that I've done, including a last minute purchase as well, which is always an awesome feeling. But it was great show and a great experience, I had a blast spending my weekend with the people I care most about in this world, there's nothing I wouldn't do for anyone from the Spent Pencils family.
And of course any day wouldn't be complete without Denny's.
But I just wanted to say a really big, huge thank you to everyone who came by the Spent Pencils table, we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you and all the support we get along the way, so thank you for the support and be sure to spread the word, tell friends and family and everyone you can, so we can make this Spent world bigger and bigger. And how it has grown, I am looking forward to meeting and working with all of the new pencils that have been added to the family, welcome guys to the crew and if there's anything I can do for any of you guys and girls, let me know.
It's a brave and exciting world, and you know what...I can't wait for what comes next. Are you ready?
Some YouTube Storm Vlog as well...

R3-invent
I am just giving a little update here on my blog and the first thing I am doing is giving this blog a new name, Storm Watch! If you don't know by now, I do go by the alias ChileanStorm, a crazy wild and unpredictable Chilean. I thought it was a pretty catchy name, so I am going to be using that pretty much everywhere, so that when you see the name, you know who it is. The one and only. Although it would be neat if there were other storms out there, like an ArgentinianStorm or a BrazilianStorm, a little idea out there for other aspiring Latino artists like me out there. Anyways, now you know, so let people know the new name of the blog, same old me but a brand new name.
So with that out of the way onto more important news and events that went down these past weeks.
I first want to let everyone here know about the brand new Spent Pencils website that is up and running, so go check it out right now at spentpencils.com and it is a beauty! A big shout out to Daniel Wong and Kevin Briones on the fantastic job on this site, it looks incredible! I'll be posting a lot of my work on there, so you can find all my work when you go to my page which is right here ChileanStorm Art. I will have links to both these pages on the main page on here as well, once I figure out how to make this place look more me then plain. Also while we are on the subject of Spent Pencils, a big welcome to our two new members, the lovely and super talented ladies, Joanne Seto and Tiffany Medeiros. Welcome to the Spent family! And check out and like our Facebook page as well, tell everyone who loves art and comics.
In other news, I had my first Hobbystar convention last weekend and it was quite the experience, I still can't believe how such a large room can seem so small when it's crammed with tons and tons of people. A great turn out, it's always awesome to see such a large crowd for the nerd community. A lot of great costumes, a lot of brownie points for those comic book costumes, keep up the great work. And of course seeing various different friends in the Toronto art scene, which again is another amazing community! It's great to see everyone working hard on different projects and how we can all help one and other out. It was a learning experience for me for sure, I felt a little unprepared by comparison to some of my other fellow artist. But you live and learn, and I plan to be more prepared for the next show. I am still learning slowly the Photoshop art side of things, but keep posted, a lot of prints will be coming soon. And also I will posting more here to let everyone know in advanced when and where I will be drawing, so you can find me and say hi, getting a sketch card or pick up a print. So keep posted here.
Then I had to work all week. During March break. If there's something that can crush someones soul it's working at a tourist hot spot during the March break. But I survived. And as a great man once said, big girls don't cry.
So that's me, keep tuned here and be sure to spread the word, the Storm Watch is here.
